Golcar United Ladies Beat Bradford City U23s 2-4

Golcar Ladies Secure Impressive Away Victory

Golcar United Ladies put in a commanding performance this Sunday, claiming all three points with a well-deserved 4-2 victory over Bradford City U23s. The win showcased our attacking prowess and defensive resilience in what proved to be an entertaining encounter.

Fast Start Sets the Tone

The match began at a blistering pace, with our ladies wasting no time in stamping their authority on the game. Just five minutes in, Raegen Cartledge capitalized on a well-delivered corner from Charlotte Parker to put us ahead. The early momentum continued as Maddie Walsh extended our advantage in the 11th minute with a clinical finish following Steph’s assist.

Bradford responded by growing into the game and were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute. However, goalkeeper Demi Wood proved once again why she’s such a crucial part of our team, producing a magnificent save to tip the spot-kick over the bar and preserve our two-goal cushion.

Second Half Clinical Display

A tactical substitution at halftime saw Paige Tandy replace Parker, and the change paid immediate dividends. Just two minutes after the restart, Maddie Walsh showcased her striker’s instinct with a delightful backheel finish from Paige’s assist, extending our lead to 3-0.

The substitutions continued to impact the game positively, with Charlotte Parker returning to the action in the 55th minute in place of Maddie Walsh. Within a minute of her reintroduction, Parker found the net from another Paige Tandy assist, putting us in a commanding 4-0 position.

Bradford showed their fighting spirit, pulling back a goal in the 73rd minute to make it 4-1. They managed to add another late on, but our defense held firm to secure the 4-2 victory despite the cold conditions.

Team Effort on Display

Throughout the match, our management utilized the squad effectively with several changes to maintain energy levels. Kacie Clayton replaced Ruby Greaves in the 58th minute, followed by Megan Egdell coming on for Larissa Lawson in the 65th. Maddie Walsh later returned to the field for Steph , and Ellie Thornton was introduced for Trinity Cundall to help see out the game.

Paige deserves special mention for her impact off the bench, providing two crucial assists that helped secure the victory. Maddie’s brace once again demonstrated her clinical finishing abilities, while the entire team showed commitment and determination throughout.

Looking Forward

This result strengthens our position as we continue our campaign. The team showed great character and quality in difficult conditions, and we’ll look to build on this performance in our upcoming fixtures.
