Golcar United Ladies FC are ready for their biggest challenge yet as they prepare for their first-ever season in the West Riding Premier Division.
The rise has been remarkable. Formed in 2020/21, the squad delivered back-to-back promotions to earn their place among the region’s best. That success was no accident. It was built on discipline, commitment, and a team spirit that has only grown stronger each year.
🗣️ Manager Nathan Martin said:
“This squad has proved time and again that when people doubt us, we rise to the occasion. We’ve had players move on to higher levels, which shows the quality we’ve developed here, but it also means opportunities for others to step up. What I’ve seen in pre-season tells me this group are ready. They’ve shown hunger, quality, and a belief that they belong in the Premier Division.”
The Premier Division will bring challenges, but Golcar are not approaching it as underdogs. They are approaching it as a team determined to compete.
🗣️ Assistant manager Stewart Alexander added:
“We know how tough this league will be, but our strength is in our togetherness. The bond in this squad is special, and that will carry us through the highs and lows of the season. We’re not here to make up the numbers. We’re here to compete, to grow, and to show that Golcar United Ladies can match any side in this division.”
The opening game comes against Thackley, a side with a big reputation. But Golcar see it as the perfect chance to make a statement.

“We respect every opponent, but we don’t fear anyone. This is a big step forward for the club, and we’re excited to show what we can do. Whatever the result, we’ll keep building and pushing to set new standards for ourselves.”
