It’s A Knockout for Golcar United Community Playing Fields in Major Fundraiser for Play Park Upgrade

A brilliant team day out, a proper laugh, and a real upgrade for our community play park.

If you grew up in Golcar, you already know what these fields mean. They are not just lines on grass. They are where mates meet, families gather, and kids burn off that endless energy that somehow never runs out.

Right next to the pitches sits our community play park. It should be a place that feels safe, bright, and looked after. A place parents feel good about, and a place kids actually want to be.

At the moment, it needs help.

So we are backing a big, bold, joy-filled fundraiser that does two things at once. It gives you an unforgettable afternoon with your mates or colleagues, and it raises the funds needed to replace and upgrade the community play park for local families, now and for the next generation.

It’s A Knockout Challenge

📅 Saturday 6th June, 2026
⏰ Adults session 11.30am to 2.30pm

Think inflatable obstacle courses, team games, water challenges, and the kind of laughter that makes your cheeks hurt.

The day is designed for friendly competition, big energy, and brilliant memories, while supporting something that genuinely matters on your doorstep.

Who should enter a team?

If you are part of a business, a club, a group of friends, or a workplace that loves a challenge, this is made for you.

It is also ideal if you want a team day that people will actually talk about afterwards. Not the polite kind of “that was nice” either. The “we are doing that again next year” kind.

And if your team has a bit of personality, even better. Bring the fancy dress. Bring the noise. Bring the supporters. This is one of those days where turning up properly is half the fun.

Corporate team details

  • 18 teams only (maximum 10 participants per team)
  • £500 per team (includes team entry plus a free burger and drink voucher)
  • £100 deposit secures your team’s place
  • Any fundraising above the entry fee can be donated to the play park upgrade, other community projects, or a charity of your team’s choice

Optional drinks package

£30 per person
Includes hospitality suite access, a free bar for 4 hours, and DJ entertainment.

Extra incentives and points

You can win extra points for:

  • Best fancy dress
  • Most money raised
  • Biggest supporter turnout

And there is a big one for early movers.

FREE sponsorship of one of our 8 game zones for the first 8 teams to sign up.

Where the money goes

All proceeds go towards replacing and upgrading the community play park, ensuring a safer, better space for our young people and future generations.

That means fewer “be careful there” moments and more “go on then, have fun” moments. It also means something more practical that every parent understands.

When a space is safe and well maintained, families actually use it. They stay longer. They bring friends.

It becomes part of the weekly routine again, instead of a place you avoid when the ground is soaked, the surfaces are uneven, or the equipment looks past its best.

This upgrade is about dignity as well as safety. Kids do not think in budgets or maintenance plans. They just feel what a place says about them.

A clean, safe play park tells a child, without anyone needing to explain it, that the community values them and wants them to enjoy being outside.

And it is not only about the very young children either.

A well kept park changes the atmosphere around the fields. It turns matchdays into family days. It gives siblings something to do while football is happening.
