Robyn Peel Named Captain of Golcar United Ladies FC 2025/26

Golcar United Ladies are proud to confirm that Robyn Peel has been named Club Captain for the upcoming season.

This is a special moment not only for Robyn but for the club itself. As many of our supporters know, it was thanks to Robyn and her wife Chloe that Golcar United Ladies were first formed. Their commitment and vision created the foundation for the team we see today, and it feels fitting that Robyn will now lead us into the next chapter.

A Leader at the Heart of Defence

Robyn has long been the voice of our back line. A commanding centre-back, she brings calm under pressure, organisation in difficult moments, and the drive to keep standards high. Her influence is clear in the way she encourages her teammates to stay disciplined, work hard for each other, and play with confidence.

Captaincy Decision

The decision to name our captain was not straightforward. We are fortunate to have a strong senior leadership group within the squad, with several players who could have stepped into the role with distinction. After careful thought, Robyn edged it. Her consistency, presence, and ability to lift those around her made her the right choice for this season.

More Than Football

Robyn’s leadership is not limited to matchdays. Off the pitch, she works tirelessly to keep the squad bonded. From organising socials to making sure new players feel welcome, she has built a culture of togetherness that runs deeper than training sessions and fixtures. She also leans on the experience of the other senior players in the squad, whose input and support help maintain the standards and spirit within the group. That shared leadership has been a key part of our growth and ensures every player feels part of the journey.

The Right Choice for the Armband

For the coaching staff, Robyn embodies the values of Golcar United Ladies. She has already worn the armband in pre-season and showed the qualities that made her the stand-out candidate to lead us into the new campaign.

Manager Nathan Martin said:
“Robyn is the heartbeat of this team. She demands the best from herself and those around her, and that is exactly what you want from a captain. Her influence goes far beyond her position on the pitch, and she inspires belief in the players beside her.”

Assistant Manager Stewart Alexander added:
“Robyn sets the tone every time she steps onto the pitch. She has the trust of the squad, the respect of the staff, and the personality to bring the best out of others. Naming her captain feels like the most natural step forward for this team.”

Congratulations, Robyn

Everyone at Golcar United Ladies congratulates Robyn on this well-deserved appointment. With her passion, commitment, and leadership, we are confident she will lead the team with pride and purpose in the season ahead.

Congratulations, Robyn. We cannot wait to see what this season brings under your captaincy. 💚⚽👏
